In "The Clod a d the Pebble" by William Blake, we can analyse two different ideas of love: Love is selfless and love is selfish. The Clod says that love is to please others and not itself, while the Pebble says that love is to please yourself.
The Clod is more sensible to love. He please others instead of pleasing himself. We can say that the emotions of the Clod are reflected in the material he is made. He is soft and weak, so his heart is very sensible.
In the other hand, the Pebble is in the opposite position. He says tha love is selfish, that is to say that love i to please yourself and not others. He is from a strong and hard material, the opposite of the Clod, so his heart is hard and difficult to love.
In my opinion love is to please others and not yourself, but to want that other persons make something for you. So as a conclusion I am in the side of the Clod. If you are in a relation is because you like the other person, so you do things so the relationship continues.
Your essay is written in a very clear way.
ResponderEliminarPlease don´t forget to include several quotations, to mention what literary devices are used and to analyse what these words and phrases transmit. This will be a "must" in the next essays you write.
The word you are looking for to refer to the clod is "sensitive", not "sensible" (which in English means "rational"). I´m glad you analysed not only what the clod and the pebble said but also the material they are made of.
